A large initiative was put into place to help customers shop for products that require some customization or configuration. These projects were built on a new architecture that allows for product customization to be scaled to other categories of products.
Apple Watches and PC Gaming sets were the two products targeted for the projects. I was the lead designer on both projects from discovery to implementation.
Business : Less custom approaches needed by category teams and product lines
Business : Support category growth
User : More engaged customer (more time spent on pdp's features, configuration completion, and conversion)
Business : No consistency in how we set up product lines that benefit customization making it difficult for product setup teams, data availability, and scaling methods.
User : "It's difficult to understand what my options are. This product is complicated, I wish I could engage with this product in a way that makes me excited to purchase it."
